Task 9 – Review

Write an illustrated evaluation of your project following feedback. Reflect on the finished product against original intentions and your production skills from start to finish. Try to establish whether or not your finished product has met the client’s requirements. Your production log will be very useful in reviewing the product.
This is your opportunity to not only show that you have fully understood the process of working to the brief, but also that you can look forward to how you can use what you have learnt in the future.

Remember that you are trying to create 3D animation to a technical quality that reflects near-professional standards following industry practice, showing creativity and flair and working independently to professional expectations.

Review

For Unit 67 I think I did well with my 3D animation I found it a little challenging as I have never done anything much like it which was the reason why we did the e6 radio man animation before are main 3D animation. I found the Unit fun and new, I really enjoyed working with lightwave and I have picked up a lot of skills to use it, like how to set out the 3D animation and the timing in the animation along with the frames. I liked using two cameras as I can cover more ground with them and choose which of the two has bets bits and use them in the video. I also enjoyed editing the animation as I found it easy and natural to me, I liked the effects adobe premiere came with. If I was to come back to unit 67 with more time I would added a few more things to my animation as I find it lacking some action in it as to why I added 2 cameras to it to catch both sides of the animation making it feel lively . I would have the 6 from the logo to expand more with more columns expaning from it but they would have been too difficult and would have taken up more of my time. I would also have liked to add a third camera to capture more of the above as I have both cameras spiralling upwards of the six. I think I did well on my editing and sound this animation suiting for the music I chose for it.

Task 8 – Presentation

Render out and present your completed motion graphic to the e6’s station manager, Damen Bramwell and publish it to your blog.

Task 7 – Post-Production

Having rendered out the 3D media for your sting, combine the animated sequence with your chosen soundbed using Adobe Premiere and adopting the same specifications as your original Layout project. You may choose to build other 2D animation techniques and effects into your treatment at his stage, for example, Flash, Photoshop, Illustrator and After Effects.

Task 6 – Production

Build your 3D sting by following your plans carefully using NewTek’s Lightwave suite. You will need to review which assets are available to you and which you want to create for yourself. This is usually the most challenging part of the project management life cycle, because unexpected things crop up, new problems arise and perhaps even new goals become necessary. Remember to chart your progress carefully within your production log and monitor your time via the schedule. Use screenshots to explain your use of the software – animation techniques, camera, lighting, texturing and rendering.

Task 4 – Storyboard

Choose your strongest idea and develop it into a storyboard treatment. Work quickly and simply, but make sure that you are clear and concise. Annotate and use symbols to describe action. It is really important that you indicate the timing of each section in both seconds and frames. Thinking the timing through carefully will not only help you to keep within the timeframe given to you, but will also help you to give your sting rhythm. If you need to adapt it or refine it, then produce another. The test is whether you could give your storyboard to someone else within a team to guide them in producing the sequence.

The completed motion graphic needs to be exactly 30 seconds long and must feature one of the supplied sound beds. Sound effects are optional. Your sequence will be built and rendered out at 1280 x 720 pixels at 30 fps (29.7 fps).

Task 3 – Ideas Generation

Taking into consideration the research and the software experiments you have made, generate a wide range of ideas for your sequence. Remember that this is about generating many ideas quickly and not about producing great artwork. This can be carried out using specific mind-mapping or design software, or by hand and then scanned or photographed, BUT cite any sources you have used in your ideas generation, both written and visual. You should also start to consider the part that audio will play in the sequence. This will require you to review the supplied media.
